NZTalent is an exciting new initiative launched 25 September 2017, which recognises the growing demand for employability skills, which are often learned outside formal education programmes.
It aims to raise public awareness of the different opportunities available to young New Zealanders outside the traditional tertiary education framework.
Search for roles with no qualifications required
As part of this initiative, Trade Me Jobs have created a dedicated attribute to highlight skills-based roles where no formal qualification is required. You can find these roles by selecting the ‘No qualifications’ search filter or via our dedicated site.
An open letter to NZ - educate for the future
Leading Kiwi businesses, including Trade Me, have banded together to help drive this movement.
These businesses have collectively signed an open letter to NZ, stating they do not require tertiary qualifications for a range of roles within their business.
Instead of focusing on tertiary qualifications during recruitment, their focus is on assessment of necessary skills, attitudes, motivation and adaptability of applicants. Prior work experience (full or part-time), community work, portfolios, online learning, entrepreneurial endeavors and soft skills will be some of the types of skills and experience considered during the employment process.
