What to include in a cover letter

A cover letter is your chance to strike a chord and stand out to an employer. Admittedly, some don’t read the full cover letter so aim to wow them with the first paragraph ... read on.

This is where you cater your experience to the role advertised, so they open your CV and read further.

This is also a good chance to highlight some things you know about their company and why it would excite you to work for them.

So in short, your cover letter is a great place to cover off the following:

  • relevant experience
  • your interest in the role and the company
  • your employment status
  • any large gaps on your CV e.g. six months of travel in South America
  • an introduction to you.
